surprisingly is not a Tama. It is a Gretsch set. The hats used in this set
were Sabian rock hats - 15". Pics:
This set is a Tama Imperial Star kit. Not much to say about it. Pics:
This kit is unknown to me. When he used it, what brand etc. Pics:
When Lars was about 10 years old (1974) he and his friends pertended they were Deep
Purple. Lars was the drummer. His drums were made of cardboard boxes.
In 1977 Lars asked his grandmother to buy him a drumkit. Because he was
a big fan of Deep Purple he wanted to have the same brand as his favourite
drummer, Ian Paice, used - a Ludwig set. But he did not have much time to play it
in Denmark, because soon the whole family moving to Los
Angeles, USA.
James later said that he thought Lars' first drumkit looked like a set from
"The Muppets Show".
